HKA’s successful day battling in Kent

Hasting Kickboxing Academy had a team of fighters at Battle of Kent in Gillingham last weekend.

The HKAteam scored four wins – two of them by stoppage and two loses. Here Head Coach Carl Denne reviews the performance of his squad on the day.

Sanjay Rajan was first up and scored a second round stoppage, his opponent was unable to continue as Sanjay was just too strong.

Sanjay was on form showing fantastic movement and ringcraft, adding lots of spinning kicks, he really took control of the fight.

Abigail Jordan had a great little fight. If only Abi fought in every round like she did in the third.? This girl is getting stronger every time she fights, but unfortunately this time her opponent proved jut too tough.

Riley Davies is a little machine. This boy is definitely going to be one to watch in the future I promise. His movement was great, he never stopped going forward. It was a fantastic fight and very close, this time the decision went to the other fighter, but I was  so proud of Riley.

Drew Rodgers was so nervous before she got in the ring. Her nerves nearly got the better of her. She sucked it up, got in that ring and used those long legs of hers. I just wish she would believe more in herself and in the ability she has. Drew was pushing forwards constantly, pushing those front kicks in and pushing her opponent back. ?Drew took all three rounds for a good win.

Ellis Barlow has had two years away from fighting, so was stepping back in to the ring again for the first time.

Stronger and fitter than ever she stopped her opponent in the first round Ellis’s power and pressure were just too much and this was an easy win.

Last up on the day was Mollie Matten. Her first round was a little bit slow but Mollie was in control throughout. In the second Mollie came out of the corner and boom! She listened to everything I had said to her in the corner and went in and smashed the last two rounds it was a really great, strong win!

I can’t say enough how proud I am of every single member of the team.

A huge thank you too, to our HKA supporters, the ones that came to cheer the others on, even though they weren’t fighting.

Once again Hastings Kickboxing Academy’s hard work and dedication to the young and developing team of kickboxers really shone through.
