Number crunching – how the Greens pushed the Lib Dems into fourth place…

In all good elections it’s down to the number and after the campaigning and debate is over the numbers tell the story.

Sue Beaney polled more votes than any other candidate in the elections

At yesterday’s Hastings Borough Council elections a total of 45,810 votes were cast, each party’s share of the vote was:

  • Labour 22,665 votes – percentage share 49 per cent
  • Conservatives 14,684 votes – percentage share 32 per cent
  • Greens 4,545 votes – percentage share ten per cent
  • Liberal Democrats 3,721votes – percentage share eight per cent
  • The For Britain Movement 57 votes
  • Democrats and Veterans Party 70 votes
  • UKIP 68 votes

Only three candidates achieved more than 1,000 votes thy were Sue Beaney in Braybrooke who polled 1,101 votes and her colleague in Braybrooke Dominic Sabetian who polled 1,043 the same number as Kim Forward in Gensing.
