St Leonards man charged with ‘exerting coercive control’

Romany Burns from St Leonards, who police wanted to trace and interview on suspicion of offences including assault and criminal damage in Hastings, has now been arrested and charged.

The search followed a violent incident at a flat in Hastings in January.

Burns, 27, unemployed and of no fixed address, appeared in custody at Brighton Magistrates’ Court today, charged with coercive control in a relationship, two offences of assault by beating, two offences of witness intimidation, an offence of causing actual bodily harm and an offence of criminal damage.

He pleaded not guilty to all offences and was remanded in custody to appear at the same Court on April 23rd.
