Buckswood bags a brace of firsts at Pipes in the Park
Buckswood School’s Pipe band joined a multitude of pipers and bands in Colchester at the weekend for the 27th annual Pipes in the Park!
Pipes and drums from across the South of England played incredible medleys of Scottish tunes as they performed in the arena at Colchester’s Lower Castle Park.
The competition ranged from beginners to professional grade pipers, as well as competitions in solo piping and Highland dancing.
The Buckswood Pipe band had two entrants in competitions on the day, with Lilia placing 1st in the 2/4 March and Isabella placing 1st in Slow Air and 2nd in the 2/4 March.
This was a great result for the band, it’s the first year competing at Pipes in the Park, in previous years Buckswood pipers have only attended to perform, not compete.
Tom Curd, Pipe Band Instructor at Buckswood said: “It was great to see Buckswood bringing the average age down in the competition and becoming the next generation of Pipe Band members.”
