Could the Dragon Boat Race at Bewl Water, Kent be a way for St Michael’s Hospice to earn some of the £14,000 it needs to raise every day to be able keep doing what it does so well.

The hospice is hoping that local businesses from across Hastings and Rother might use the race as a way not just to reconnect, motivate, and boost staff morale but to raise vital funds to help the hospice through sponsorship raised by the team members.

A spokesman says: “The Dragon Boat race is an exciting way to integrating staff from all areas of a company and enables everyone to work together creating a dynamic team spirit. With no previous experience required everyone has an equal chance of success.

“It’s been a while since businesses have had the opportunity to get together for team building events and now more than ever, businesses are looking to develop good workplace relationships and have fun with colleagues.”

Each Dragon Boat team requires 17 people – 16 rowers and one drummer. Registration is £360 per boat, which is just £21 per person although St Michael’s Hospice does not receive any of the registration fee.
