Foodie heaven on Hastings Pier as Frankonia comes to town…

Breads and other baked goods, normally supplied only to top London establishments, including the Houses of Parliament, The Ritz and the Savoy are now available on Hastings Pier.

The local foodie community and visitors to Hastings Pier will be delighted to learn that at Frankonia Hastings they are now able to enjoy fabulous tasty treats.

Surrey-based independent bakery, Frankonia the Bread House has taken up residence in one of the vibrant kiosks on the pier, where it will be offering its traditional artisan breads, delicious cakes and other treats. Frankonia Hastings is being supplied with its stock on a daily basis from the wholesale part of this family-owned artisanal producer and the wholesale service is being extended to other businesses locally.

“I have spent a great deal of my time staying with family in Hastings over the years,” says Frankonia’s owner Birgit Gunz, “And I truly believe that by sharing our passion for producing bread using traditional methods and using only the very best ingredients, we will be adding a further dimension to the already thriving and exciting artisan community in Hastings.

Getting in line for the great bread and cakes available from Frankonia Hastings.

“I have always been passionate about what we do and over the past 22 years, as our reputation has spread, we have organically grown a strong wholesale customer base, of which we are justifiably proud. Recently I was given the opportunity to supply the wider community, and I’m delighted to report that it has gone down a ‘storm’. The chance to become part of a community which I have been on the fringe of for so many years was just too good to pass up!” she adds.

Frankonia Hastings is open at its kiosk on the pier six days a week, Tuesday to Sunday – weather permitting – throughout the summer. As well as its traditional sourdough loaves, rye bread, pretzels and brioche, it sells a range of cakes and other treats for all the family, so is the ideal meeting place for a coffee, cake and catch up with friends and family. An indulgent afternoon tea box and special picnic packs are also available.

“I’m delighted to report that we’ve already found that word has spread fast, with many residents and fitness groups buying our famous sourdough loaves,” says Birgit, “And once there, they can’t resist the array of our lovely cakes and Viennoisserie!”

Frankonia Hastings will also be supplying other local establishments including pubs and hotels in the area with wholesale deliveries Tuesday to Sunday throughout East Sussex and parts of Kent.
