Police appeal for witnesses to Saturday assault…

Police are appealing for witnesses after it was reported that two people were robbed in a street in Hastings.

Officers were called on Saturday (May 2nd) to reports of a man and a woman being attacked at the junction of Deepdene Gardens and Frederick Road, around 2pm.

It was alleged that two males assaulted them and stole the woman’s handbag before fleeing in the direction of Deepdene Gardens. Both victims suffered cuts and bruises.

Anyone who witnessed the incident, or who may have any other information about what happened, is asked to contact police online or call 101 quoting serial 903 of 02/05.

A 20-year-old man from Hastings has been arrested on suspicion of robbery, grievous bodily harm with intent and acquiring/using/possessing criminal property.

A 14-year-old boy from Hastings has also been arrested on suspicion of robbery, assault occasioning actual bodily harm and possession with intent to supply a Class B drug.

Both have been released on police bail pending further enquiries.
