Rangers in high spirits as three teams reach cup finals!

It was a weekend with lots to celebrate for Sedlescombe Rangers as three of its youth teams reached cup finals.

The first to celebrate where the U13s who for the second year on the bounce have secured their place in the final of the Rother League U13 Knockout Cup with a 6-1 win against Robertsbridge United.

Last year saw the side reach the U12 final, only to fall to a narrow defeat to Eastbourne Borough. A year on, the team will be looking to wipe the slate clean and give it their best efforts again.

The cup final will be played on the March 15th at the Polegrove in Bexhill. Kick-off is at 3.15pm

On Sunday morning, the U16s and U18s followed suit winning their semi-finals.

The Under 16s welcomed Ashurst Wood, with two goals from Aiden Avery and one from Sonny Brock to secure a narrow 3-2 victory.

The U18s overcame higher grade opposition in their fixture away at Langton Green winning 2-0.

Goals from Alvin Scott and a late strike from substitute Charlie Webbe secured the win to set up a final against either Tunbridge Wells Youth or Sevenoaks Town.

Under 18s manager Chas Tibbutt had this to say: “The team showed a lot of character and put in the best team performance of the season and fully deserved their win.

“We had to defend really well at times against a good team and we limited them to minimal chances. Attacking wise we looked a real threat and created plenty of opportunities.  I am so pleased for all of the lads”

Sedlescombe Rangers adult teams also enjoyed a successful weekend with all three teams picking up points in their divisions.

The 1st Team returned to league action against Northiam 75, with an excellent second half display securing them all three points with a 3-0 victory in the East Sussex Football League Premier Division. Sedlescombe’s goals came from Josh Pickering who scored twice and Pip Hatch.

The LCS Roofing and Cladding Man Of The Match was awarded to defender Matt Noonan

The 2nd Team drew 1-1 at home to South Coast Athletico with Peter Newstead securing the only goal for Rangers and the 3rd team came from two goals behind to secure a point against West Hill with both goals coming from Chris Ford

The 1st and 2nd teams now prepare for cup action this coming weekend with both teams competition in quarter finals of the Hastings FA Intermediate and Junior Cup with the 1st team current holders of the competition after last season’s cup final win against Robertsbridge United.
