Rudd’s day to raise awareness of mental health support services
Amber Rudd is hosting her first ever Mental Health Summit today.
The MP for Hastings will be aiming to raise awareness for the issue of mental health and highlight the support which is available to local residents.
She has invited organisations and constituents to St Mary in the Castle to discuss the best way forward to further improve mental health provisions in the town.
The event will showcase the local support available for mental health patients and will give residents the opportunity to talk with representatives from the organisations present on the panel.
It comes after Ms Rudd secured £100,000 each year to improve mental health services in the area, she campaigned for the funding as part of the Opportunity Area programme.
She will also be visiting the i-Rock centre, which has benefitted from the new cash to hear young people explain how the service has helped them overcome mental health difficulties.
Ms Rudd started her day by visiting the Eggtooth Project that recently received nearly £50,000 in additional funding from the People’s Project following their bid which Ms Rudd supported.
The project is one of many services offering therapy for young people.
