IN VIDEO – Council’s communication ‘not a strong point’ say bathing pool site protestors
Dozens of people braved a wet windy Saturday morning on St Leonards seafront to send a message to Hastings Borough Council (HBC) that it cannot ride roughshod over their wishes.
At the centre of the protest was a plan that could see more than 150 new homes built in five, five storey blocks of flats on the site of the former bathing pool in West St Leonards.
HBC’s lead member for housing Councillor Andy Batsford was there and while he did not speak publicly he did spend time with individuals and groups explaining the council’s position. Conservative and Liberal Democrat parliamentary candidates Sally-Ann Hart and Nick Perry were there but organisers were disappointed that Labour’s candidate and HBC leader Peter Chowney did not attend.
Organisers say they were delighted by the turnout on what was a miserable morning and are also taken aback by the scale of support they are receiving via social media.

Yet again the arrogance of this council knows no bounds…what does it take to get them to acknowledge their residents views? Things are going from bad to worse here and it has to stop…where was councillor Chowney? Why didn’t he attend this important meetingt? Or is he just too busy trying to get into Westminster?
