A ‘storm and a drama’ that’s Boris’ contribution to conference says Rudd

Radio presenter Iain Dale received a metaphorical slap on the wrists from Hastings MP Amber Rudd last night when he suggested that Boris Johnson was the “…subject of the day” at the Conservative party conference.

“He is not the subject of the day Iain!” Ms Rudd said forcefully… “No, no, no the home secretary has been out giving announcements about other matters as you know, about immigration, civil partnerships, so no. Boris is always lively, always an event at conference but he is not the issue of the day.”

Ms Rudd said Mr Johnson – who she once described as ‘…the life and soul of the party but he’s not the man you want driving you home at the end of the evening’ – always created, ‘a storm and a drama around him,’ at conference.

Talking about the Prime Minister’s speech to the party conference which is due to take place today Ms Rudd said last year’s infamous speech had been ‘too eventful’ and people had ‘lost touch’ of the content. For today she hopes there will be a ‘smooth, effective speech’. While she says she does not know what the content of the speech will be she says she hopes there will be something, ‘not about brexit,’ and she is hoping for announcements on domestic policy.
