Westfield Lights on hold but Reindeer Run is new fun way to raise hospice funds

Every year St Michael’s Hospice is bowled over by the kindness and support shown to them from the community of Westfield, who work tirelessly to put on a fantastic display of Christmas lights for local people to enjoy in the run up to Christmas.

As a result of this year’s Covid restrictions the organisers of Westfield lights have made the decision, for the safety of the villagers and wider community, to not go ahead with their display this year.

St Michael’s Hospice Fundraising Team Manager, Rebecca Futrall, said: “We are in full support of the decision of the team in Westfield who put on such a spectacular display of Christmas lights in aid of the Hospice every year and look forward to seeing what they put together for 2021.

“Since beginning their fundraising for the Hospice in 2015, the local community have raised an incredible £93,743.62 to help the us continue to provide free services to those who need it throughout Hastings and Rother. We are extremely grateful for their continued support.”

However you can still help raise funds for the hospice in other ways.

If you want to get outside in the fresh air, start a bit of exercise, or love to run a 5k, you could take on the Virtual Reindeer Run.

Committed supporter of the Hospice, Jo Brazier from New Style Events, is hosting the event and all proceeds will be donated to the Hospice.

You can complete the 5k distance however you wish, while looking great in a pair of wonderful reindeer antlers. You could even get your friends and family involved too – in line with government guidelines.

Submit evidence of having completed the distance, any time throughout December, and you will receive a limited-edition gold reindeer medal.
