Chopbacks win despite not playing at their best

Rye Town 1
South Coast Athletico 3

In what was expected to be the toughest test of the season so far, the Chopbacks were on the road for their East Sussex Football League Division 1 clash with Rye Town.

For the second weekend in a row the club were missing some key players which again gave others within the squad their chance to make their mark.

A back post finish from JJ Beaumont gave the Chopbacks a slender 1-0 lead going in at half time.

Changes were made due to injuries on what was proving to be a less than ideal pitch surface to play on.

Connor Easton poachers goal and a second goal from Beaumont increased the Chopbacks advantage in the second half.

Rye Town managed to pull one back late on but the final score finished 3-1 with the Chopbacks now looking ahead to next weekend’s Cup Match with Premier Division side Wadhurst United.

Man of the Match was Ben Tate.
