More people can benefit from Hospice at Home care

St Michael’s Hospice will be able to deliver palliative care to more people living in the community thanks to a new car they have been given by Sussex Freemasons.

The presentation of the brand new car was made at a special ceremony on Friday. St Michaels Hospice was just one of four hospices across Sussex to receive a car from the Freemasons

The car will be used by the Hospice at Home team which provides specialist palliative care around Hastings and Rother.

Karen Clarke, CEO at St Michael’s Hospice said; “We are thrilled the Freemasons and Sussex Masonic Charities have very generously donated a car to support our vital Hospice at Home service.

“The car will mean so much to the Hospice which has to raise £12,000 every day from voluntary sources to continue to provide its vital services, which are free to access.

“We will enable us to reach even more people with life limiting illnesses who prefer to receive our specialist palliative care in their own homes. We are extremely grateful to both charities for their on-going support and the very important role they play in supporting the Hospice throughout the year.”

Michael Harris, Chairman of Sussex Masonic Charities said: “Sussex Freemasons are proud to be able to directly support the work of our Sussex hospices and the amazing work that the teams do in our local communities.”

Christopher Moore, Provincial Grand Master of Sussex said: “The presentation of these cars to the hospice teams is an outstanding example of Sussex Freemasons working with local organisations for the benefit of people in Sussex.”
